This railway was built by the Jamestown and Northern Extension Railroad in 1889. (This route extended a line pre-built by the Jamestown and Northern Railroad in 1882-1885 between Jamestown and Minnewauken, hence the new name of the railroad, "Jamestown and Northern Extension".) In 1898, the J&NE was sold to the Northern Pacific Railway, which merged into the Burlington Northern later.
This route was abandoned in 1977.
