The Hunter's Run and Slate Belt Railroad was chartered in 1891 and run from a connection with the South Mountain Railroad at Hunter's Run to Wenksville to the southwest, in Pennsylvania. The line served local mines and came under the control of the Gettysburg and Harrisburg Railway in 1910, and finally the Reading Railroad, who ultimately abandoned the line.
