Shawneetown to McLeansboro
This is a branch of the former Louisville and Nashville, now Evensville and Western, from McLeansboro to Shawneetown. The line when intact, had mostly crossbuck-only protection. There was an interlocking at Eldorado at teh Big Four. That had two color light signals and a small yellow-only signal for a distant signal about a block either side. There was only a switch where it joined the B&O at Junction. East of that pint was the interlocking crossins of a coal mine spur to haul coal tpo the Ohio River. That had B&O color-position light signals in only the red herizontl and green vertical positions, with a marker light above.
There was a short spur in McLeansboro to serve local industries. That had a derail. When derail was off the tracks, it signified the line was in sue. It was strictly yard limits.
There used to be flashers on Illinois 142 and US 45 in Eldorado, later marked EXEMPT when line was abandoned but rails still intact. The line was removed sometime in the 1980's.
