This abandoned rail line is located in Henry County, Indiana. The Honey Creek Railroad applied to abandon all 5.9 miles of its line between Sulphur Springs and New Castle in August of 2004. The condition of the tracks, seen here in photos from 2005, reveals that the last train may have run a long time before the line was actually abandoned.
Some months after the abandonment, there was a controversy when the line's owner objected after a local landowner, with adjacent property, removed rails, ties and ballast on a section of the line. Some other portions of the line were apparently removed by a scrapping crew.
