The Echo and Park City Railroad ran between its two namesake towns: Echo was the location of Union Pacific's transcontinental railroad across the Western US, and Park City with the site of lucrative silver and phosphate mining. While the transcon was built through Echo canyon in 1869, this line was built a few years later in 1880.
Abandonment came under Union Pacific in 1986 when the last of the mines shuttered in Park City, leaving the line without any rail traffic.
