This branch was originally built by the El Paso & South Western Railroad, and then became part of the Southern Pacific. It branched from the SP's Benson-Douglas line at Lewis Springs and headed west through Sierra Vista (formerly known as Fry) to Fort Huachuca. It was abandoned between 1967 and 1977.
While some traces of ballast and ties can be seen through Sierra Vista, this branch was not built for heavy use and is difficult to locate in some places.
