Black Hills Central Railroad

At the south end of the yard, we have what looks to be a maintenance-of-way car.

The Black Hills Central RR runs a tourist/passenger train, the 1880 Train, through the Black Hills of South Dakota. Here are pictures of some of their equipment (both used and in storage) at their yard in Black Hills, SD.

A detail of the boiler of the steam locomotive.

The tail end of a passenger car. There were no markings on the car whatsoever.

The stencil on the side of the Burlington Northern caboose.

The station at Hill City, South Dakota, complete with semaphores.

A closer view of the Hill City station.

The yard at Hill City, and end of the line for the 1880 train.

Walking around the south side of the yard.

An old Chicago & Northwestern passenger car. Note the small trucks.

The GE 70-tonner used to switch passenger cars (and other rolling equipment).

Steam locomotive number 7, stored for winter season.

Some of the drivers for the steam locomotive hulk seen earlier.

A motorized trainman cart. Certainly would be nice to get one of these and restore it to working condition.

Another driver for the rusting steam locomotive.

A EMD GP, 63, used for passenger hauling duty when the steam locomotive is offline for maintenance/repairs.

Another view of the CNW passenger car, coupled to a Black Hills Central RR passenger car.

Bettendorf steel trucks, standard gauge, 56 1/2" wheel on 5x9 journal sets, coil springs. Used for heavy freight cars, circa 1920 to 1940.

36" narrow gauge Bettendorf trucks with coil springs, circa 1920 to 1940.

A caboose perhaps?

Another passenger car, again with no markings.
