This abandonment is listed in Elmer Sulzer's "Ghost railroads in Indiana" and evidently from reading the map the North Vernon-Columbus branch of the Pennsylvania RR & North Vernon-Greensburg branch of the New York Central have also been abandoned.
It saddens me that towns like Bedford,Poseyville,Westport,Elizabeth, and sure to be others in Indiana along with Fordsville,Morganfield,Blackford & Moorman in Kentucky ,all small towns/cities use to be railroad crossroads. They had the services of two railroads but now basically have none. I feel sometimes that someday people will be sorry they lost rail service but als railroads are businesses and if there's no business/traffic they must close.

The bridge pictured is from the NYC at the south side of Westport. The route of the Milwaukee Rd. was west of this.
