Watertown to Redfield

GOOGLE MAPS no longer available: With apologies, I am unable to continue showing Google Maps. Google has forced my hand by increasing their map usage fee from nothing/free to OVER $300 A MONTH for the Abandoned Rails website! This is an expense that I simply cannot afford. Rest assured I am looking at available open source alternatives, so maps should be back online soon!

This railway line was abandoned in 1969 by the Chicago and North Western Railroad.

See also Gary to Watertown, Watertown to Leola, Redfield to Onida and Brookings to Watertown, all abandoned by the C&NW in this region.

According to the South Dakota State Historical Society, this line was abandoned in March, 1981, not 1969. I posted the date 1969 on a picture I posted on Facebook, and received comments from members who said they remember the railroad still going in 1980 when they were in school in Henry,SD. I wonder where the date 1969 originated, and is it possible another company acquired the tracks?
