Looking across Walnut Street in Frankfort, IN, the former Terre Haute to Logansport branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad is visible, alongside the active CSX tracks in the foreground. This line was abandoned by Penn Central in the early part of the 1970s. Photo by Jeremy Harris, July 2011.

Is it just me, or does the active line take a fat dogleg just at the crossing? Everything else is straight!
Bakersfield , CA
I'm modeling this line, thru Frankfort and down to about Colfax.
Deferred maintenance. Low joints, broken rail bars and bent rails. It would de-rail a steam engine but not a diesel. This country would be in a lot of trouble if it ever needed ALL of its railroads again.
