The Stephens Branch was constructed in the 1930s after the Elkhorn and Beaver Valley Rairoad was completed. Its purpose was to serve the Manton and Stephens Coal Company at Manton, KY. The track was 2 miles long and dead ended at Manton ("Marrs"), KY.
The line was abandoned in 2003 or 2004.
There is a story of an engineer that was new and, not stopping in time, backed his train into a pond at the end of the line.
