This line was built in 1890 under the Schuylkill & Lehigh Valley Railroad, and was abandoned in 1953 under the Lehigh Valley Railroad. An extensive history of the line can be found at the link below.

I have been told that Oreland Boy Scout Troop #1 owns land that was once an Ice Making Facility where they would flood the fields using the Indian Run, cut the ice up and load it onto the RR cars above. They use it now as a private boy scout camp. There are two stone arch bridges at either end of the camp where the Indian Run crosses under the ROW.
The lizard Creek junction side of this branch line links up with this line
I have a question that does not pertain to this rail line.I read in the Reading Eagle yesterday being 6-18-16 that the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad bought the 5.5 mile Locust Valley Line which runs from Laurel Junction in Delano Township to near Mahanoy City in Mahanoy Township.RBM&N acquired the line from Locust Valley Coal Co.Where is this rail line exactly?
It is part of the Lehigh Valley New Boston Branch from under Interstate 81 about two miles north of the Delano exit, paralleling Morea Road to just to the eastern edge of New Boston - Morea area.
Thanks Greg for the information.Never heard of that railroad before.
