i noticed abandoned bridges on this abandoned rail line.please let me know if any rail is on tis line also.thank you.
I lived in LaJose for 18 years, grew up there and left out in 1986 but there was still track for about a mile, they would park rail cars on there for weeks, most of the track was removed but I was told they might put new track in if coal buisness ever picked up again.
thank you for the information.since i see you live in oklahoma and haven't probably been back to pa. in a while i was just wondering if the bridges in irvona and newburg along with the rail in newburg were still there.i did live in houtzdale for about 4 years and do remember seeing abandoned rail in the area around the houtzdale area.of course i was living there from 1995 to 2000.i do not know what if anything is left.if you can find out what is still there please let me know.i plan on going out there in the future for fishing in the area which i heard is and seen is pretty good.keep in touch.
All track in Irvona - PA, PNW and NYC has been taken out. The closest track still in is at the coal load out in Fallen Timber. Their was some track put back in from LaJose to Thompsontown - they were suppossed to load boney and "float" it down to a new cogen plant at Karthaus but this fell through. I heard they had a mining museum in Coalport which might have some rail history too.
Thank you Michael for the information which is very useful for when I'm in the area.
