The Palmdale Railroad was rather short-lived, running from Palm Springs to the proposed town site of Palmdale near the foot of Mount San Jacinto (no relation to the Antelope Valley city). It ran along present-day Farrell Street and I believe Racquet Club Drive and the ties were later used to build the Cornelia White House which still stands as a museum in downtown Palm Springs. Local lore says that a decaying passenger car was visible in the desert for years afterward. Farrell has some unusual curves at its northern end and eventually curves to the west to become Racquet Club much like a railroad might.
