Manorville to Eastport
— User Comments —
The old Manorville Branch was the LIRR's original branch out to Sag Harbor and then later, Montauk. This branch was build to cutoff the South Side Railroad which at that time had made it as far east as Patchogue. After the South Side was acquired by the LIRR, an extension was run to Eastport to connect with it. The Manorville to Eastport piece was abandoned in the early 50's. All the tracks and hardware was pulled up at that time. The roadbed can easily be followed and most of it is still in place.
