This passenger station was built in 1897 and was located adjacent to the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway line, itself built in 1881. Passengers traveled through this depot's doors for 77 years until the last passenger train pulled away on June 8, 1958. Today, it serves as the Medina County Museum, and has been moved seventeen blocks west to its present-day location. Photo by Dave Matthews, March 2009.

Starting in 1988 or 1989, the TEXAN dinner train operated out of San Antonio to Hondo for a few years.
I rode it on its inaugural trip in August 1988. The train went south to Pleasanton---actually Campbellton because of a blocked siding.
