The Hillsboro and Northeastern Railway
— User Comments —
Looking for information about the H&NE. I have vauge images in mind for both this road and the CNW that ran thru Juneau County Wisconsin.
The railroad was chartered on October 9th, 1901 and opened in 1903. Bought by Raymond S. Knower in January 1978.
This railroad right-of-way is now a bicycle trail owned by the State of Wisconsin/maintained by Juneau County, and connects to the 400 Trail at Union Center.
In later times, the railroad had two locomotives and a handful of ore cars. The locos were a 45-ton ex-U.S. Navy Davenport and a 35-ton Plymouth. Photos of both may be found on the Fallen Flags Website.
