Fort Wayne to Howe, IN

This railroad was/is originality called the Grand Rapids-Indianapolis railroad connecting those two cities. Part of it was used for the Freedom Train in 1976 when it rolled into Fort Wayne.
The line north of Kendallville was abandoned in 1979.South of Kendallville to Ft. Wayne was abandoned in 1982. There is still a 1 mile segment in Kendallville to serve Kraft Foods. There is also a remnant in Fort Wayne to serve the industrial park by I-69
The remaining section in Kendallville also serves what appears to be a large scrapyard just south of US 6 just west of Main Street. The ROW is quite easy to follow.
