Cushing to Drumright

The Drumright District

Picture Point of Interest

GOOGLE MAPS no longer available: With apologies, I am unable to continue showing Google Maps. Google has forced my hand by increasing their map usage fee from nothing/free to OVER $300 A MONTH for the Abandoned Rails website! This is an expense that I simply cannot afford. Rest assured I am looking at available open source alternatives, so maps should be back online soon!

Historic ICC Abandonment Filings

Docket Number: 22469 Date: 2/15/1963 Section: 1(18)
App. for auth. to aband. a portion of its line of rr known as the "Drumright District", extending from near Cushing, Payne County, to the end of the track near Drumright, Creek County, all in the State of Oklahoma, a distance of approximately 13 mi.
Length: 13 miles Citation:

Abandonment of this portion of the Second District, Middle Division, was a put up scam by the ATSF RR. Leonard Johnson, Conductor on the Cushing to Stillwater local, which was advertised to go to Drumright on Tuesday and Saturday attended the proceedings with train/car information for the previous year, showing that load miles were far above and beyond the information of activity presented by the railroad. He was shown the door and told it was none of his business. The outcome is history.

Actually, about the Caboose. If it was "Cotton Belt" it was the St. Louis Southwestern Railway. If it was from the Frisco, it was the St. Louis San Francisco.
