Neleyville to Doniphan

The Doniphan Branch Railway

Point of Interest

GOOGLE MAPS no longer available: With apologies, I am unable to continue showing Google Maps. Google has forced my hand by increasing their map usage fee from nothing/free to OVER $300 A MONTH for the Abandoned Rails website! This is an expense that I simply cannot afford. Rest assured I am looking at available open source alternatives, so maps should be back online soon!

The Doniphan Branch Railway was chartered in the state of Missouri on July 18, 1882 to construct a line from the Saint Louis, Iron Mountain and Southern Railway mainline at Neleyville northwest to the community of Doniphan, a distance of about 20 miles. Construction started that year in Neleyville and finished in Doniphan a year later in 1883.

The DBRy came under the control of the StLIM&S on February 15, 1884, and was ultimately owned by the Missouri Pacific Railroad who abandoned the entire line.

Thanks to Richard Roberts for contributing information about this route.

I could take tons of pictures if I had a camera and a car.

I know that the line was operational in the early to mid 40's.It was a logging line with several other industries like grain and rice.It also got a little profit of the Frisco as well as trackege rights to Wall-nut Rige and Delta.
