mike ; if i may , what line was this ? i find it interesting that as much of it as i see is still in place after who knows how long --- part of an old B&O line ?

Does that line tie into the iron truss bridge, now used for foot traffic, which crosses the Ohio into Newport?

This line was originally the southern end of the CH&D and later B&O mainline from Cincinnati to Toledo (Toledo Division). B&O built a connector near Mitchell Ave and Spring Grove Ave to connect the Toledo Division main to the Ohio Division main that ran from Cincinnati to Parkersburg, WV. This line was then downgraded to an industrial track which saw its last traffic in the early 2000's.
There was a line that allowed for interchange with the L&N via the L&N bridge (the iron truss bridge you are referring to). This line was severed when the new Bengals and Reds Stadiums were constructed.
