Probably one of the shortest railroad lines ever to cross a state line, the Bachman Valley Railroad shows up on railroad maps as early as 1877. A 1905 USGS topographical map indicates that the railroad line was then owned by the Western Maryland Railroad as the Bachman Valley Branch. Date of abandonment of the line, or any further history, is unknown.
