The Atlanta Belt Line Railway

Atlanta, Georgia

This line, which once encompassed Atlanta proper as a giant loop of railroad, was built in segments by various companies before the turn of the 20th century, with final completion of the line by 1902.

Today, most of the right-of-way is being prepared as a rail-trail around Georgia's capital city, with a promise of a new light-rail line in the future.
